Taiwan Province of China : Rolls-Royce contract to make aircraft engine parts won by Taiwan firm.

As per AIDC statement, a NT$3.2 billion (US$107 million) contract to manufacture parts and components for Rolls-Royce airplane engines is won by Aerospace Industrial Development Corp. (AIDC).

AIDC President Butch Hsu and Frank Haselbach, Rolls-Royce executive vice president of combustion casting signed the nine-year deal at a supplier forum in London.

AIDC, a state-owned company under the authority of the Ministry of Economic Affairs said, Under the NT$3.2 billion contract, AIDC will supply 64 different parts and components for Rolls-Royce's Trend series and V2500 engines .

Hsu said his company plans to outsource 75 percent of the work to its local partners in an effort to help develop Taiwan's aero industry.

Rolls-Royce is a British company that is graded as one of the world's topmost five engine manufacturers and holds the main share of the global market for commercial aircraft engines. AIDC was signed in 2001 to produce parts and components for the V2500 engine.

The two companies sustained their cooperative association and developed strategic partners in 2009.

At present, they functioned collectively on the progress of Rolls-Royce's XWB engine for the Airbus 350 aircraft, as per AIDC.
