TELECOMWORLDWIRE-6 February 2007-Taipei CUTE CLUB selects SITA's AirportConnect CUTE platform(C)1994-2007 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD http://www.m2.com
The Taipei CUTE (Common Use Terminal Equipment) Airline Club at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport has revealed it is investing USD18m in IT over a seven year period as it moves to the AirportConnect CUTE platform from SITA, a provider of IT business solutions and communication services for the air transport industry.
Taipei CUTE CLUB said the partnership with SITA will enable it to continue to meet the requirements of the airlines and the 22m passengers using the airport.
The airport is reportedly the first in North Asia to adopt AirportConnect CUTE, which allows airlines and handling agents to use workstations and printers shared by all users, to access their own systems. It will also enable them to meet with IATA's requirements, such as RFID-enabled printers and the 2D bar code.
Each CUTE workstation will be connected over IP to support the needs of individual airlines, will use a pre-integrated browser and will enable maximum use of shared infrastructure.
SITA said the platform will enable the CUTE CLUB to provide a solution to facilitate a common-use environment at the airport, enabling optimum use of check-in counters and gate resources and helping to boost airline profitability.
