French Polynesia will use virtual reality technology to enhance the Smart Tourism experience
PAPETTE, Tahiti, Oct. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The French Polynesia Ministry of Tourism announced today a new partnership between Tahiti Innovation Labs, VRCinematic(TM) and the Ministry that will position Tahiti at the forefront of innovation in tourism technology.
The Smart Tourism initiative brings a full suite of new technologies and services aimed at reinvigorating tourism, which has declined over the past decade, while creating new opportunities for the Tahitian people. Cutting edge virtual reality tours produced by VRCinematic(TM) will enhance the Ministry of Tourism's marketing programs as part of the Smart Tourism initiative. Virtual reality will allow people to see Tahiti in a new way, first virtually, and then through the real experience of travel.
The Minister of Tourism, Mr. Jean-Christophe Bouissou, announced this collaboration for the opening of the Tourism Forum at the Territorial Assembly of French Polynesia: "Our government's commitment to the Smart Tourism initiative will place Tahiti at the forefront of innovative new technologies and programs that establish Tahiti as a leader in tourism development. We are excited to partner with VRCinematic to bring the immersive magic of 360 virtual reality to present Tahiti to the world in a way never before possible."
The collaboration between Tahiti Innovation Labs and VRCinematic(TM) will extend beyond the production of immersive 360 virtual reality portraits of French Polynesia's alluring islands and welcoming people. An important part of the Smart Tourism initiative is to create new opportunities for Tahiti's youth in technology to continuously enhance the Smart Tourism experience and platform.
