TYRANT NIGHT; Boy dresses as Joseph STALIN for Nativity play.

A BOY got his Josephs confused when he turned up to play the husband of Jesus's mum in a school nativity play - dressed as Soviet dictator Stalin.

Misunderstanding his teachers, Ilya Gavrichenko, 12, told his parents of his role "as Joseph" and said he needed a costume.

As requested they made his "Uncle Joe" gear, including army boots, red stripe on military trousers and a marshal's jacket. It was only on the night they realised it was a nativity play and their lad was meant to be Joseph of Nazareth.

Ilya's father Fedor, from St Petersburg, Russia said: "We even got him a perfect moustache. We were all ready for him to be a success." The dad added: "He was supposed to accompany the Virgin Mary but there was no time to change the outfit.

"Each time he went on stage, the mothers were in hysterics. My son was lost because of mixing up the part he was playing, and feeling guilty for having done so."
