TY-D-BOL SPRING CLEANING REPORT: "CONGRESS NEEDS A GOOD SPRING CLEANING"
DOUGLASSVILLE, Pa., March 19 /PRNewswire/ -- It's spring cleaning time and a new poll indicates Americans would like to clean house this season -- but not necessarily their houses.
The Ty-D-Bol Spring Cleaning Report asked 1,006 American adults: "If you had the power to throw out what exists and start all over again, which of the following do you think is most is need of a good spring cleanings?"
The answers were clear: U.S. Congress (49 percent), IRS tax code (23 percent), primetime TV (11 percent), their spouse's relatives (4 percent), and their favorite sports team (3 percent).
The findings reflect the growing anger felt by American taxpayers toward their elected officials in Washington. In this election year, as the Republican White House loudly blames the Democratic Congress for the nation's economic woes, and the Congressional check bouncing scandal fills the press, the public is outraged. Indeed, the survey indicates fully half of the adult population would like to "clean out" Congress this spring.
On the other hand, people are surprisingly happy with their in-laws, sports teams and television programs. Despite the usual grumbling, relatively few Americans would bother to "spring clean" their relatives, sports stars or television programs.
"Although our products do a great job in cleaning toilet bowls across America, they can't help us clean up the Congress," commented Jack Rickenbach, group product manager for Ty-D-Bol, sponsor of the poll. "For that, we'll have to wait for elections this fall."
The Ty-D-Bol Spring Cleaning Report presents the findings of a telephone survey conducted among a national probability sample of 500 men and 506 women, completed between Feb. 27 and March 1. Conducted by Research & Forecasts, a New York-based public opinion polling firm, the survey's margin of error is +/- 3 percent.
