TWO NEW VICE PRESIDENTS NAMED AT NISSAN RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

 FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Rodney B. Holmes and Takeo Tamura have been named vice presidents at Nissan Research and Development, Inc. (NRD).
 Holmes was named vice president for experimental engineering and Tamura was named vice president for product planning. Both appointments became effective July 1. Holmes' position is a new one at the vehicle development organization. Tamura succeeds Masaji Shiobara, who has returned to Japan.
 Holmes had been director of experimental engineering at NRD since Jan. 1, 1993. He joined Nissan in July 1988 as corporate manager, program control. He also served as director, climate control and electrical and as director, chassis and electrical design engineering.
 Prior to joining Nissan, Holmes spent 11 years working for both Volkswagen and General Motors Corp. He holds a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin.
 Holmes is married and has two children.
 Before Tamura was named vice president, he served as a product planning director at NRD. He joined Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. upon graduation from Keio University in Japan in 1968, where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering.
 During his career with the automaker, Tamura has worked in the Product Market Strategy Office for Nissan North America, Inc. and in Japan focusing on product planning and overseas vehicle development.
 Tamura and his wife have two children.
 Nissan Research and Development, Inc. is part of Nissan's comprehensive North American vehicle development operation. NRD maintains a large Technical Center in Farmington Hills, northwest of Detroit, and other offices and laboratories in Ann Arbor, Mich.; Los Angeles; Washington; Smyrna, Tenn.; and Stanfield, Ariz.
