TWO KATRON HUB CHOICES OFFER VALUE AT HIGH AND LOW PRICE POINTS

HOUSTON, May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Katron Computers, Inc. now offers both high-performance and high-value 10Base-T Ethernet hub alternatives for resellers, installers and LAN end-user sites.
The high-performance, full-featured Hub-II is available for $695 (all prices suggested US resale at participating Katron resellers; inquiries invited). Hub II features a 14-port Ethernet concentrator that supports 12 UTP (RJ-45 10Base-T) ports, one BNC (10Base-2) port and one AUI (10Base-5) port. One of the UTP ports is crossover-selectable, to connect to either another hub or to a standard 10Base-T node. Each port has a "Jabber" LED to indicate whether or not the port is partitioned from the network. Each UTP port has a "Link" LED to monitor the status of the twisted-pair wiring. An automatic preamble generator helps minimize bit loss. And a jabber function helps isolate network failures. The hub also has "Traffic", "Jam", "FIFO" and "MAU Lockup" status monitor LEDs. The rack-mountable HUB II is UL, CSA safety and FCC EMI approved.
The economical Hub 8 Plus is available for $345. Hub 8 Plus features a 9-port Ethernet concentrator that supports eight UTP ports and one BNC port. There are "Link Integrity" and "Partition" LED monitors for each port, plus a traffic activity indicator, a collision indicator and a BNC port 300-meter mode indicator. Each UTP port offers auto-detection and auto-correction for wiring polarity reversal problems. There is also an auto-partition and recovery function on each port. A cascade port supports stacks of as many as five Hub 8 Plus units, which appear to the network as a single large hub with 40 UTP ports and five BNC ports.
"Whether our customers want the best features or the best price," says Katron executive Kenneth Huang, "we want Katron to be the best value in Ethernet hubs."
