TV talent vote ban.

A MOBILE phone company has banned text message votes to an Arab TV talent show after it was branded immoral.

Operator Mobily barred votes from fans of the reality show Star Academy after an Islamic decree labelled the programme a crime against Islam.

The Saudi firm said: "It is culturally inappropriate. It shows men and women living in one house, sometimes semi-naked and in inappropriate situations."

The show began its third series last week with 19 musicians trying to win a recording contract.
