TV PEOPLE: Watch it.

Byline: Sarah Moolla

BLUE MURDER: For such a hard-hitting title, this is a surprisingly softly-softly crime drama. Caroline Quentin is DCI Janine Lewis, investigating the brutal murder of a teacher. Assisting her is gorgeous Ian Kelsey as DI Richard Mayne. The two-parter combines all the primetime drama ingredients. There's the gripping whodunnit aspect - the suspicious wife, a wayward pupil, or the violent neighbour - as well as dealing with single mum, family life and romance issues. Yet despite taking on so many themes, it works - the suspects look like real people, Caroline is convincing as a cop trying to cope with mundane domesticity one minute and then murder the next, and you'll find yourself willing our two heroes to get it together. ITV1, Sunday and Monday, 9pm
