TV Licensing officers give final warning to evaders.

TELEVISION licence dodgers in Warwickshire are being warned that it is only a matter of time before they are caught.

The warning comes from TV Licensing, which has launched its See Sense campaign in Warwickshire, urging licence fee evaders to buy a licence before inquiry officers visit the borough later this month.

Dodgers risk a trip to court and a fine of up to pounds 1,000.

TV Licensing says nearly 2,500 evaders have been caught in the Coventry and Warwickshire area since January.

Paul Johnson, TV Licensing's regional manager, said: "This year, 2,466 people who thought they could get away with it have already been proved wrong.

"The ideal time to visit is during peak viewing times, when we know people will be watching TV, for example during popular soaps or major sporting events.

"Remember, too, that each inquiry officer catches on average one evader every working hour - so the net is tightening around those evaders who are left.

"Evaders know who they are. So do we. We are serious about stopping evaders and will do so."
