 SALES PROMOTION SPECIALISTS
RESTON, Va., July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- TV Answer, the leader in wireless interactive television, has signed a marketing agreement with Marden-Kane, Inc., that allows the promotions agency to be one of the first to offer two-way television as a marketing tactic for its clients. Additionally, Marden-Kane will be prepared to consult with TV Answer service providers on the use of interactive television for promotional applications.
TV Answer allows television viewers to have two-way, real time interaction with game shows, sporting events, news polls and direct response offers, among many other applications. "Marden-Kane is well-known in the promotions industry for being innovative," said Sande Smith, TV Answer's vice president of Video Products. "They will be able to offer their clients a ground floor sales promotion opportunity to use interactive television to gain a competitive edge," said Smith. "Their expertise in sweepstakes design and administration will be invaluable to our providers who use two-way television in their advertising and programming," he added.
Marc Wortsman, senior vice president of Marden-Kane, said they are "excited to be part of the future of television. TV Answer will play an important role in how TV is used for the promotion of products and services. Once TV Answer is available, our clients will be able to conduct promotions in ways never before possible.
The agreement is the latest in a series with national marketing firms. TV Answer also recently announced a contract with Meridian Bancorp, Inc., and CheckFree, the nation's leading provider of electronic payment services, to let consumers use their televisions to pay bills anywhere in the United States.
TV Answers will be available to consumers in mid-year 1993. The roll out schedule will be determined by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which is anticipated to start issuing licenses for interactive television service by the end of 1992. TV Answer and its manufacturing partner, Hewlett-Packard Co., are committed to placing 1.5 million home units, called Interactive Television Appliances (ITAs), during the first year of service.
