TV: Private poet; LARKIN: LOVE AGAIN.

Ton gh BBC2, 9.15pm ONE of Britain's most popular poets -Philip Larkin -enjoyed a private life that was rather more unusual than most people's. Larkin compartmentalised his private life to keep his three long-term lovers -lecturer Monica Jones, fellow librarian Maeve Brennan and secretary Betty Mackereth -separate.

Tonight's programme jauntily dramatises thisrather unusual triple union, and features some excellent performances from Hugh Bonneville as Larkin and Tara Fitzgerald as Monica -the leader in the race for the poet's affections.
