TV'S FORD SNAPS UP HYDRO HOME.
Ford Kiernan has splashed out on a new house - within walking distance of his new home from home at Glasgow's Hydro.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that the Still Game star had taken a PS350,000 hit on the mansion he sold in Glasgow's south side.
But the funnyman had the laugh last by picking up a fourbedroom flat in the west of the city for almost PS50,000 less than its official valuation.
Ford's new location is much handier for the Hydro, where he will join his Still Game co-stars for a 16-date run over 12 nights in September and October next year.
Public records show he and wife Lesley paid PS601,000 for the two-floored property despite a home report value of PS650,000.
The couple had sold their five-bedroom villa in Pollokshields for PS900,000 despite having paid PS1.24million in 2009.
The transaction went through just before the announcement of the Hydro gigs, which are set to realise PS8.6million in ticket sales.
Still Game was a massive TV hit, with six series aired between 2002 and 2007, and often pulled in more than one million viewers until Kiernan and Hemphill parted company following a disagreement over their production company, Effingee.
The timing of the reunion took many by surprise because, as late as last year, Hemphill was quoted as saying that they would only return "maybe in five or 10 years".
BBC Scotland are also now said to be considering plans for a television return.
Last year, Ford and wife Lesley opened a dog-grooming shop in Glasgow called The Wet Nose.
Lesley is in charge of the day-to-day running of the business.
