TURNPIKE UPDATES PUBLIC ON MON/FAYETTE TRANSPORTATION PROJECT

TURNPIKE UPDATES PUBLIC ON MON/FAYETTE TRANSPORTATION PROJECT
MORGANTOWN, W.Va., Nov. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission has scheduled the second in a series of "open house" public meetings for mid-November to discuss developments on the Mon/Fayette Transportation Project, it was announced today.
The alternatives that were presented at previous public meetings have been reevaluated and the project is now being developed in four study areas. The study areas were determined by a needs study which examined existing highway conditions, future traffic demands, and social and environmental impacts.
Anyone interested in the study area between Morgantown and Uniontown, Pa., (the Mason-Dixon link) is invited to attend this "open house" meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 1:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lakeview Resort (Exit 10 off Interstate 68), east of Morgantown. Public meetings in the other sections will be scheduled at a later date.
The Turnpike Commission said it stresses that all alternatives concerning the project are still being evaluated. All interested citizens are encouraged to attend and give their input. Citizens will be given an update about the project schedule, the reevaluation of alternatives, and the environmental issues which are now being studied.
Turnpike Commission representatives will be available throughout the "open house" for discussion and explanation.
