TURNER CONSTRUCTION TO JOIN ROCK AND ROLL
HALL OF FAME MUSEUM, INC. TEAM
CLEVELAND, April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The City of Cleveland and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Inc. are pleased to announce that Turner Construction Company will join the team being assembled to build the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. Turner will provide construction management and general contracting services.
Turner will be added to the design team led by Pei, Cobb Freed & Partners and Robert P. Madison International, and will provide cost estimating, value engineering, constructability analyses, and other needed input to the balance of the design effort.
These services will help to ensure that the project, as designed, considers cost effective methodologies while preserving the design intent. The design effort is scheduled for completion in September 1992.
Turner is one of the most respected firms of its kind in the country and has recently completed similar, relevant projects of equivalent scale such as: The Tennesee Aquarium, the Portland Convention and Trade Show Centre and the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
"We are extremely pleased to add Turner Construction Company to our design consultant team. We now have the last of the design pieces in place to keep us on target for groundbreaking next year," Michael Benz, director of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, said. Benz indicated that the selection process was in partnership with the City of Cleveland and included a detailed review of seven firms which submitted proposals.
Cleveland Mayor Michael R. White said he was pleased with the continued progress of the project.
"We're moving right along. This will be a landmark project in which all of Greater Cleveland will be able to take great pride. We're putting together the kind of first-rate team, from beginning to end, to ensure that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum will attract people from all over the world," said White.
