TURNER CONSTRUCTION TO HANDLE TWO BUILDING PROJECTS FOR BOEING
NEW YORK, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Turner Construction Company's Seattle office has been selected to handle two new projects for Boeing Commercial Airplane Group according to an announcement made today by The Turner Corporation (AMEX: TUR), the nation's leading general builder. These will be the second and third projects handled by Turner for the aerospace giant.
Turner started work in September on Boeing Building 85-105, a 170,000 square-foot addition to an existing building in Portland, Ore. The light manufacturing facility, used to machine metallic airplane parts, will contain several specialized pieces of equipment. In addition, the single story steel truss project includes a plating tank line and several overhead bridge cranes. Construction is expected to take a total of 13-1/2 months.
Construction is now underway in SeaTac, Wash., on Boeing's Building 22-01. The new 700,000 square-foot building will serve as a centralized spare parts distribution center and contains a 65-foot "high-bay area with super flat floors and two major loading dock areas. The project also features a unique double triangle entry office to be constructed of exposed tube steel frame with a sloped glass exterior. In addition to the building construction, Turner will handle extensive site, utility and road work and landscaping construction. Scheduled completion for this project is December 1992.
"We are extremely happy to continue our relationship with Boeing on these two projects," commented Tom Mormino, manager of Turner's Seattle office. "Turner has grown to what it is today as a result of repeat work for satisfied clients. I'm pleased that Boeing is on that list."
Based in New York City, The Turner Corporation, through Turner Construction Company and other construction subsidiaries is the nation's largest builder of commercial, industrial, hospital and healthcare, institutional, government building and multi-unit housing projects. Operating through more than 34 local offices, such as Seattle, Turner has construction projects underway throughout the United States and abroad.
During 1990, The Turner Corporation completed $3.3 billion of construction.
