TURKEY-UN -Turkey welcomes Ban's re-election as UN head.

ANKARA, Jun 23, 2011 (TUR) -- Turkey on Wednesday welcomed Ban Ki-moon's re-election as United Nations Secretary-General.

The U.N. General Assembly voted unanimously to give Ban Ki-moon a second term as UN chief on Tuesday.

Turkey had announced support to Ban's re-election bid on June 10, Turkish Foreign Ministry recalled in a statement, adding that Turkey had appreciated his good will, self-devotion and professionalism during his first term in office.

Turkey congratulated Ban on his re-election. The statement said Turkey was sure that Ban would continue to perform his job successfully.

In addition, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu sent a letter to congratulate Ban and expressed pleasure over close cooperation between Turkey and United Nations, the statement said.

The ministry also reaffirmed full support to Ban.
