TURKEY-NORWAY -Turkish Minister Ergun visits Norwegian Embassy to express condolence.

ANKARA, July 27, 2011 (TUR) -- Turkish Minister of Science, Industry and Technology Nihat Ergun visited the Norwegian Embassy in Ankara on Wednesday to express condolence over the recent killing of at least 76 people in Norway by an assailant.

Minister Ergun was welcomed to the Norwegian Embassy by Ambassadress Cecilie Landsverk.

Ergun offered condolences to Landsverk on behalf of the Turkish government and Turkish people.

Speaking to reporters after his visit to the Norwegian Embassy, Ergun said that the killing of at least 76 people in Norway caused great reaction throughout the world and in Norway.

The world witnessed diverse terror acts in the past. However, what took place in Norway is an incident very rarely seen. We visited the Norwegian Embassy today to offer condolences on behalf of the Turkish government and its people, Ergun said.

There is a serious need for cooperation against religious fanaticism and intolerance in the world, Ergun added.
