TURKEY-AUTOMOTIVE SECTOR -Chinese automaker Chery to release its first vehicle manufactured in Turkey in 6 months.

BURSA, Apr 27, 2011 (TUR) -- Chinese auto manufacturer Chery plans to release the first vehicle built at its production facility in Turkey's northwest in the next 6 months.

The vehicles will be manufactured at a factory to be established in Turkey's northwestern Adapazari town with a 500 million USD investment by the Chinese company's Turkish partner Mermerler Group.

Mermerler Automotive's Deputy Managing Director Aydin Akyol told AA on Wednesday that the factory would not only be an installation facility, but it would also have the capacity to manufacture 4-5 different vehicles at the same time and to produce diesel engines.

Akyol also noted that the annual production capacity of the facility would be around 100,000 vehicles.

The official said nearly 60-65 percent of the factory's production would be exported, adding that Turkey would become Chery's door to Europe with such investment.

Chery Automobile Co. Ltd. is a Chinese automobile manufacturer founded as a state-owned enterprise in 1997 and based in Wuhu, Anhui Province, China.

Chery became the 7th most-productive Chinese vehicle manufacturer in 2010 by selling nearly 700,000 units.
