TSYS REPORTS RECORD NET INCOME FOR 1992

 COLUMBUS, Ga., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Total System Services, Inc. (NYSE: TSS), the Columbus, Ga.-based bankcard data processing company, today announced record revenues and net income for the three months and year ended Dec. 31, 1992.
 Net income for 1992 increased 15.5 percent to $17,568,955, or $1.10 per share, up from $15,211,956, or $.96 per share last year. Revenues for the year were $129.7 million, an increase of 15.4 percent, compared with revenues of $112.4 million reported for 1991. Net income for the fourth quarter of 1992 increased 15.4 percent to $5,647,747, or $.35 per share, up from $4,892,641, or $.31 per share, for the same period last year. Revenues for the fourth quarter of 1992 were $35.3 million, an increase of 15.1 percent, compared with revenues of $30.7 million reported for the fourth quarter of 1991.
 Commenting on the company's performance, Richard W. Ussery, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of TSYS, stated: "We are extremely pleased with our strong financial performance in 1992. Both our number of cardholder accounts and transaction levels increased in 1992 producing solid growth in revenues. This revenue growth combined with better use of our capacities produced record net income. As we begin the new year, we remain optimistic about the growth and continued strong earnings potential of TSYS and anticipate another excellent year in 1993."
 TSYS is the second-largest credit card and private label transaction processing company in the world. The company is based in Columbus, and provides credit card institutions with a comprehensive on-line system of data processing services marketed as THE TOTAL SYSTEM(SM).
