 COUPONING PROGRAM WILL PROMOTE LOCAL AREA MERCHANTS
 PROVIDENCE, R.I., Oct. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- TSS Ltd. (NASDAQ: TSSL) President Michael A. Clark announced today that the company would demonstrate a new marketing application for its proprietary couponing terminals initially in 14 East Coast stores of a major supermarket chain.
 In the demonstration program, local merchants in the area around the supermarket will provide both discounts and value-added special offers for their products and services through the TSS terminals.
 "The purpose of the demonstration is to establish a new market for TSS systems and marketing programs. There is already proven demand among merchants for access to supermarket shoppers for promotion of their goods and services. For instance, many merchants offer coupons on the back of check-out register tapes," Mr. Clark said.
 "We believe that promotion through the interactive TSS terminal will prove more effective and efficient than passive register tape programs," he said.
 "Supermarkets see a tremendous, untapped asset in their access to shoppers. They see themselves as just about the only place where a member from practically every household goes on an average of twice a week. Often the trip to the supermarket is the occasion for consumers to shop in other stores as well. Supermarkets have recognized for a long time that their revenues could be increased by attracting the promotional dollars of their fellow merchants directly into the supermarket. TSS couponing terminals offer an excellent means to do that," Mr. Clark said.
 "Once we have fully validated the demand and efficiency of this concept, TSS will offer local area merchants promotional slots on TSS terminals in addition to the slots the presently offer coupons for consumer packaged goods that are stocked in the supermarket," he said.
 "This represents an important step in achieving our plan for TSS's business growth and we are delighted to be associated with a 'marquee' player in the supermarket trade. However, at this point our demonstration partner has requested to be unnamed in order to protect against other chains rushing to copy the program," he said.
 TSS currently operates programs in Ralphs supermarkets in southern California, in Kmart stores and in Match stores, a supermarket chain in Belgium.
