 TRW AND THERMO ELECTRON TECHNOLOGIES TEAM
 FOR PASSIVE MICROWAVE CAMERA DEVELOPMENT
 SAN DIEGO, Calif., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- TRW Space & Technology Group and Thermo Electron Technologies Corporation (AMEX: TKN) have completed a teaming agreement to market an advanced microwave imaging system based on proprietary technology of Thermo Electron Technologies for Department of Defense applications.
 "Combining the complementary capabilities of our two companies has created a strong team," said Firooz Rufeh, president and chief executive officer of Thermo Electron Technologies. "Department of Defense and other government-funded research projects often result in technologies with a wide range of applications, including some with commercial potential. We believe a joint effort with TRW will prove valuable."
 In announcing the teaming agreement, Daniel S. Goldin, vice president and general manager of the TRW Space & Technology Group, said, "Our work with Thermo Electron Technologies Corporation will complement our ongoing program. TRW has pioneered advanced electronics, and we feel that the advances we've achieved will contribute to the success of this joint effort."
 TRW Space & Technology Group's Applied Technology Division will be working with Thermo Electron Technologies. The division specializes in research, development, and production of space science instruments, superconducting electronics, high-energy lasers, and electro-optical systems. TRW Space & Technology Group is headquartered in Redondo Beach, Calif.
 Thermo Electron Technologies Corporation develops advanced technology in electro-optic and electro-acoustic systems, signal processing, materials technology, lasers, and direct energy conversion. Currently, the company is developing several commercial products, including a sonic CT (computerized tomography) system for real-time imaging of soft tissue and internal organs, a wind-shear detector to provide pilots with advance warning of wind shears, and the passive microwave camera, which enables pilots to "see" through fog and clouds to enhance navigation. Thermo Electron Technologies Corporation is a public subsidiary of Thermo Electron Corporation.
