TRUNDLE SOU GLAD.

Byline: LEE WEST

Swansea 1 Plymouth 0 PAULO SOUSA surprisingly dumped Lee Trundle on the bench - but he couldn't do without Swansea's top scorer.

Substitute Trundle, who hit two goals at Peterborough on Saturday, came on at halftime and was glad of the chance to punish Plymouth in the 52nd minute.

Sousa threw on Trundle and Gorka Pintado for Joe Allen and the ineffective Besian Idrizaj. The on-loan Bristol City striker made an instant impact.

Pintado, fed the ball on the right, put a low cross into the six-yard box and Trundle fired home from close range to take his tally to five in six matches - and lift the Swans into the play-off zone.

Plymouth found some muchneeded urgency and were almost level 10 minutes later.

Alan Judge found Rory Fallon free on the far post but the striker's header was met by a fine save from Dorus de Vries.

Paul Sturrock's men had almost conceded after 40 seconds. Nathan Dyer's shot from just outside the box was parried well by Romain Larrieu after smart build-up play and Allen's follow-up was blocked.

A bad night for Plymouth got worse in the 90th minute when Shane Lowry was sent off for a second bookable offence.
