TRUMAN SUSMAN PLAX MARKETER AND CARTE BLANCHE CEO, TO HEAD BIOTEL DIVISION OF VIRAL TESTING SYSTEMS CORP.

HOUSTON, July 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Viral Testing Systems Corp. (AMEX: VTS) today announced that Truman Susman was named president of the company's new Biotel division, and Kent Plunkett was appointed executive vice president of division operations. Both gentlemen held similar positions with Biotel Corp. before its recent acquisition by VTS.
The VTS Biotel division is a leader in the marketing and distribution of home screening tests which are sold directly to consumers in over 15,000 drug stores nationwide. Biotel's five "in vitro" (outside the body) tests are used to detect or monitor blood glucose, diabetes, kidney/bladder disorders, and urinary tract infections (UTIs). VTS is the only company to concentrate on marketing such tests directly to consumers. VTS is also the exclusive Western Hemisphere distributor of FLUOROGNOST HIV-1 IFA, the only FDA-approved test that can both screen and confirm for HIV and obtain results within 90 minutes.
Mr. Susman has extensive consumer products marketing experience. Before heading Biotel in 1991, Susman was co-founder of Oral Research Labs, the company that developed and introduced PLAX, the pre-brush dental rinse. PLAX grew to more than $150 million in annual sales in less than two years, and was chosen as the oral hygiene product of the year in the drug store industry. The company was acquired by Pfizer, Inc in 1988 for over $240 million. Prior to his success with PLAX, Susman had a nine-year tenure with Citicorp which was capped when he managed the company's negotiations to buy Carte Blanche, and became president and chief executive officer of the credit card company. Susman also spent nearly a decade with Bristol Myers Squibb, where he managed such national brands as Bufferin, Excedrin and Vitalis. He is a graduate of Princeton University.
Heading Biotel operations is Mr. Plunkett who has nine years experience with consumer marketing start-ups and financing with such companies as St. Paul Venture Capital and Consumer Venture Partners. He is a graduate of Georgetown University and the Harvard Business School.
The retail trade names for the Biotel products are Biotel Diabetes Home Searching Test, Biotel UTI Home Screening Test, Biotel Kidney Home Screening Test, and Biotel Hi-Value 3 and Hi-Value V (for monitoring blood glucose).
