TROUBLE TOP; Darts compere axed from TV show after joking that he is working with fat bellied s blokes with small pr***s.
A NEW ITV darts presenter has been sacked before he even starts - after boasting he'd landed a job working with "fat bellied guys with little pr***s".
Mark Peters had just been hired as a compere, announcing darts legends such as Phil "The Power" Taylor on stage. But when officials read his comments on Facebook they sacked the former standup comedian.
A source said: "Event organisers hit the roof when they read what Mark had been saying. It might have been a joke but officials didn't want to take the chance of upsetting any of the players taking part by letting him continue in his job."
Peters, from Hadleigh, Essex, was hired after being spotted by promoter Barry Hearn earlier this year.
The dad-of-three then took to Facebook to tell pals. In a post on the site last month he said: "I've now been appointed the new host for the world darts on ITV for December and through 2012 for Barry Hearn at Matchroom.
"Never thought I'd finish my career working with fat bellied guys with little pr***s !!!" The blunder means that he will take no part in the showcase event, the World Championships.
Ironically in the days leading up to his TV debut, Peters had told how he was scared stiff about saying the wrong thing. "It's live TV, so it's very daunting," he said in an interview.
Yesterday a remorseful Peters told the Sunday Mirror: "What I did was wrong. It was a joke which b a c kfired on me badly and now I have blown a golden opportunity. Instead of presenting the darts I am sat at home twiddling my thumbs."
