TRION ANNOUNCES EXECUTIVE AND BOARD CHANGES SANFORD, N.C., July 31 /PRNewswire/ -- TRION, INC.
(NASDAQ-NMS: TRON) today announced several changes in executive management and board structure.
1. Hugh E. Carr, president since 1976 and chairman and chief executive officer since 1991, has announced his retirement at age 60, in September of this year. Carr will continue as a director and consultant to the company. The Trion Board of Directors praised Carr for his active leadership and many contributions to the company for the past 22 years during which time Trion sales grew drastically from $3 million to nearly $40 million. The Board expressed satisfaction that his experience and talents would remain available to the company. 2. Gary R. Long, President of the company since 1991, has resigned from the company, effective immediately, to pursue other business interests. 3. Samuel J. Wornom III, a Trion director since 1982, was elected interim President and Chief Executive Officer of the company, effective immediately. Wornom, 49 years old, is a private investor, President of Nouveau Investments, and former President and Chief Executive Officer of The Pantry, a 500-unit chain of convenience stores. He resides in Sanford, N.C. Wornom announced that the Board would immediately launch a search for a permanent president and chief executive officer. 4. E.V. Clarke, a director since 1987, was elected Chairman of the Board. Clarke, 67, a career executive with the Westinghouse Electric Corporation, retired in 1985 as Senior Executive Vice President and member of the policy committee. He lives in Sewickley, Pa.
