TRINITY BIOTECH SELECTS DR. ANTHONY NICHOLLS AS NEW CHAIRMAN

 DUBLIN, Ireland, Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Trinity Biotech (NASDAQ: HIVSY) announced today that Dr. Anthony C. Nicholls, President and Chief Executive Officer of Trinity has been elected Chairman of the Board. Mr. Ronan O'Caoimh, Chief Financial Officer, will resume the role of President of the Company.
 Dr. Denis Burger, Trinity's retiring Chairman, is currently President and Chief Operating Officer of AntiVirals Inc., an Oregon-based Genetic Therapy company. Dr. Burger, one of Trinity's founders, presided as Chairman of the Company during its early evolution and public offering. "Dr. Burger's early leadership in the founding of Trinity Biotech is greatly appreciated. We wish him great success in directing the development of AntiVirals and are grateful that he will remain on our Board," stated Dr. Anthony Nicholls, Trinity's new chairman.
 Dr. Nicholls, a founder-member of Trinity, has previously held positions as Vice President of Cambridge Biotech, President and Director of Biotech Research Laboratories Inc., Vice President and General Manager of the BioAnalytical Division of Fisher Scientific and various senior management roles in Ciba, Corning Diagnostics and Flow General Inc. Dr. Nicholls is also currently a Director of Disease Detection International Inc., a Trinity Subsidiary, and Daymark Medical Industries Inc., a company involved in advanced catheter technology.
 Trinity Biotech is an Ireland-based diagnostics company dedicated to the development of rapid, on-site, saliva tests for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.
