TRIMBLE AND PRC AGREEMENT BENEFITS PUBLIC SAFETY

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Trimble Navigation (NASDAQ: TRMB) announced today that PRC of McLean, Va., will serve as a systems integrator for Trimble Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) Global Positioning System (GPS) products. The partnership will provide a product that enhances resource utilization and allows dispatchers to make life-saving decisions with real-time information about the location and status of all their vehicles. Under the multi-year agreement, which could have a potential value in excess of $6 million PRC will offer Trimble's vehicle mounted location sensors and StarView mapping display software to the public safety market.
"The agreement with Trimble enables us to put the final pieces in place for what we think is the most exciting product being offered to the public safety community today," said Mark Filteau, president of PRC Public Sector. "We believe our new UNIX-based computer-aided dispatch (CAD), combined with Trimble AVL capabilities, will give our customers a new level of ability to make effective, real-time incident management decisions."
 Benefits of Partnership
Included in the integrated system are GPS receivers with optional integrated dead reckoning, modems and Trimble's StarView mapping display software. The StarView software will be tightly integrated with PRC's CAD software to offer users a seamless approach to real-time fleet management. At the dispatch center, aided by PRC's new CAD system, all vehicles will be pinpointed on the dispatcher's screen so incident management decisions can be optimized.
In addition to integrating Trimble AVL with its new Unix CAD product, PRC intends to offer AVL as an upgrade for users of its older VAX-based software.
"We are excited about the partnership with PRC," said David Vaughn, Trimble's vice president for Tracking and Communication Products. "They are well respected as a quality supplier of public safety dispatch systems and have a large and loyal customer base." The two companies are already working together on systems for San Diego; Portland, Ore.; Phoenix; and Boston.
