TRIDENT MICROSYSTEMS' LEADING EDGE GRAPHICS ACCELERATORS QUALIFY FOR "DESIGNED FOR WINDOWS '95" STATUS.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 3, 1995--Trident Microsystems Inc. announced today that its 32-bit and 64-bit graphics accelerator product lines are qualified for the Microsoft Windows `95 operating system software. Trident is among only a few hardware solution providers to have met the guidelines set by Microsoft's Compatibility Lab. This qualification enables the company to use the "Designed for Windows 95" logo.

"Trident is excited about its early qualification status," said Rick Silverman, vice president of marketing. "This confirmation from Microsoft's Compatibility Labs ensures the customer that Trident graphics products will work with Windows `95. Our drivers and accelerators will be among the first hardware solutions to reliably bring the new operating system software to the end user."

Trident's Windows `95 qualified products include the popular TGUI9400CXi and TGUI9440 32-bit GUI accelerators, and the 64-bit TGUI9660 GUI accelerator. This qualification also extends to the company's TGUI9680 combined GUI/video accelerator, a 64-bit accelerator currently designed into several leading multimedia PCs.

Later this month, Microsoft Corp. plans to distribute a CD-ROM directory listing all Windows `95 compatible products. Trident's TGUI9660 GUI accelerator and its TGUI9680 combined GUI/video accelerator will be listed in the Windows Drivers Library (WDL) directory. The company's TGUI9400CXi and TGUI9440 GUI accelerators will be included in the Microsoft Windows `95 HCL HW compatibility list. The Microsoft network and its on-line service plan to update these drivers periodically. Driver upgrades can also be obtained by calling Trident's customer support department.

In addition to the Windows `95 qualification, Trident also announced its participation in Microsoft's Windows `95 Pavilion. This event is held in conjunction with the Windows Solution tradeshow scheduled for August 30-September 1st at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco.
