TRICORD SYSTEMS, INC. FILES PUBLIC OFFERING FOR SALE OF SHARES OF COMMON STOCK BY SELLING SHAREHOLDERS AND TRICORD

 PLYMOUTH, Minn., July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Tricord Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRCD) announced today that it has filed a registration statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission for a public offering of 2,750,000 shares of its common stock. Of the shares to be offered, 1,850,000 are being offered by selling shareholders and 900,000 by Tricord. The offering is being made through an underwriting group consisting of Smith Barney, Harris Upham & Co. Incorporated; Robertson, Stephens & Company, L.P.; and Dain Bosworth Incorporated.
 Tricord designs, manufactures and markets high-performance network superservers. The company's products, which are sold under the name PowerFrame, are based upon PC hardware standards and are designed to be compatible with industry standard network operating systems, such as Novell Netware, Univel UnixWare, Microsoft LAN Manager, SCO UNIX, Banyan VINES and new industry standard network operating systems as they become available, such as Windows NT. In addition, the company's products are designed to be compatible with applications designed to run in these network environments. PowerFrame superservers are designed to operate efficiently as servers for PC networks ranging from simple local area networks to large and complex networks running mission-critical applications and communication functions. The company distributes its superservers worldwide through a group of resellers comprised of value- added resellers and system integrators, original equipment manufacturers and international distributors.
