TRICORD SYSTEMS, INC., BECOMES A SPONSOR MEMBER OF NEW TSANET

MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Tricord Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: TRCD), the industry's leading superserver developer, today announced that the company is a sponsor member of the new, expanded Technical Support Alliance network (TSANet). TSANet, which is being announced at the NetWorld Dallas trade show this week, is an independent organization that ties together the industry's existing TSAs in order to provide faster and more complete support for customers in multivendor environments.
"We believe the prevalence of multivendor networks is steadily increasing," said Mark Garver, Tricord's vice president of corporate strategy and marketing. "Tricord offers support for more operating system environments than any other superserver vendor. As a result, one of our highest priorities is ensuring that our customers have access to excellent multivendor network support.
"We consider Tricord's sponsor membership in TSANet a critical step in our continuing effort to accomplish this goal," Garver said.
"We are extremely pleased to welcome Tricord into the new TSANet," said Dennis Smeltzer, executive director of TSANet. "We feel that the support of leading network vendors such as Tricord help to ensure TSANet's immediate success."
TSANet currently includes 15 sponsor members. In addition to Tricord, these companies include 3Com; Apple Computer, Inc.; Banyan Systems Incorporated; Compaq Computer Corporation; Hewlett-Packard Company; IBM Corporation; Lotus Development Corporation; NetFRAME Systems; Novell, Inc.; Santa Cruz Operations; Standard Microsystems, Inc.; SynOptics Communications; and Wall Data, Inc.

Tricord spans the corporate enterprise with a full spectrum of superserver alternatives, ranging from the departmental and workgroup servers supported by the new PowerFrame Model 20 on up to the vast enterprise networks and corporate IS systems supported by the PowerFrame ES4000 and ES5000.
TSANet has worldwide headquarters in Overland Park, Kan., where it is headed by Smeltzer.
