TRICKS OF THE TRADE: Greens, reds & purples are good to eat.

Byline: Adrienne Wild

Q I HAVE heard that it's possible to grow yellow carrots, purple beans and black sprouts. Is this true and if so what other colourful vegetables could I grow? - Bill Johnson, Loddon, Norfolk.

A ADRIENNE SAYS: Yes. And you can buy purple-skinned and red carrots too, along with golden-coloured beetroot and radish, golden and red-streaked beans, purple cauliflower and green and yellow tomatoes.
