TRIBUNE MEDIA REVENUES UP 8.3 PERCENT IN MAY

 CHICAGO, June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Combined revenues of Tribune


(NYSE: TRB) newspaper publishing, broadcasting and entertainment businesses, after excluding discontinued operations from 1992 revenues, were up 8.3 percent in the May period (the fifth period of the fiscal year), the four weeks ending May 23. Revenues were up 6.3 percent in the first five months in the year on the same basis.
 Overall newspaper revenues were up 6.8 percent (vs. up 4.6 percent YTD). Newspaper advertising revenues were up 6.7 percent (vs. up 4.9 percent YTD). Of the three newspaper advertising revenue categories, classified was up 16.4 percent (vs. up 13.1 percent YTD), retail was up 3.6 percent (vs. up 3.2 percent YTD), and general was down 4.7 percent (vs. down 8.1 percent YTD). Circulation revenues were up 4.6 percent (vs. up 4.0 percent YTD).
 Combined broadcasting and entertainment revenues were up 10.4 percent (vs. up 9.3 percent YTD). Television revenues were up 11.1 percent (vs. up 14.2 percent YTD). Radio revenues were up 14.8 percent (vs. up 20.1 percent YTD). Entertainment revenues were up 6.6 percent (vs. down 10.6 percent YTD). TV revenues include those from a station acquired in June 1992; radio revenues include two stations acquired in January 1993; 1992 entertainment revenues include two TV programs that ran from January to August and were then canceled.
 Tribune is a leading information and entertainment company. It publishes six daily newspapers, operates seven TV and six radio stations, produces and syndicates information and programming, and has an interest in newsprint manufacturing.

 NOTES:
 (A) As a result of the QUNO initial public offering completed in
 February 1993, newsprint operations revenues will no longer be
 reported as part of the company's consolidated operating
 revenues beginning in 1993. For purposes of this report and to
 enhance comparability, 1992 newsprint operations revenues and
 the related intercompany sales amounts have been removed.
 (B) 1992 and 1993 revenues exclude the Palo Alto Daily and Weekly
 newspapers. The company ceased publication of these newspapers
 on March 12, 1993.
 (C) Includes WPHL in Philadelphia since its acquisition in June
 1992. Excluding WPHL, television revenues increased 4 percent
 and 7 percent for the period and year to date, respectively.
 (D) Includes two Denver stations since their acquisition in January
 1993. Excluding the two Denver radio stations, radio revenues
 increased 3 percent and 6 percent for the period and year to
 date, respectively.
 (E) Excluding WPHL and the two radio stations referred to above,
 consolidated revenue increased 6 percent and 4 percent for the
 period and year to date, respectively.
