TRIBUNE MEDIA REVENUES UP 3.3 PERCENT IN APRIL

 CHICAGO, May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Combined revenues of Tribune Company (NYSE: TRB) newspaper publishing, broadcasting and entertainment businesses were up 3.3 percent in the April period, the four weeks ending April 25, compared to 5.7 percent in the four months thus far in the year.
 Overall newspaper revenues were up 1.9 percent, versus 4.1 percent year to date (YTD). Revenues from newspaper advertising were up 2.0 percent (vs. up 4.5 YTD). Of the three major newspaper advertising categories, classified was up 12.4 percent both in the period and YTD; retail revenues were down 0.5 percent (vs. up 3.1 YTD) and general down 12.1 percent (vs. 9.0 YTD). Circulation revenues were up 4.0 percent (vs. 3.8 YTD).
 In broadcasting and entertainment, combined revenues were up 5.2 percent (vs. 9.0 YTD). Television was up 10.4 percent (vs. 15.2 YTD). Radio was up 23.9 percent (vs. up 22 YTD). Entertainment was down 11.5 percent (vs. down 16.3 YTD). Television revenues include those from a station acquired in June of 1992; radio revenues include two stations acquired in January 1993; 1992 entertainment revenues include two TV programs that ran from January to August and were then canceled.
 Tribune is a leading information and entertainment company. It publishes six daily newspapers, operates seven TV and six radio stations, produces and syndicates information and programming and has an interest in newsprint manufacturing.
