TRIBUNE MEDIA REVENUES UP 10.4 PERCENT IN NOVEMBER; PUBLISHING UP 11.3 PERCENT, BOOSTED BY ACQUISITIONS

 CHICAGO, Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Combined revenues for Tribune's (NYSE: TRB) publishing, broadcasting and entertainment businesses were up 10.4 percent for the November period, the four weeks ending Nov. 21, and were up 6.7 percent for the 11 periods to date, excluding 1992 results from discontinued operations.
 Publishing revenues were up 11.3 percent for the period, up 5.8 percent for the 11 periods to date. This gain included revenues from Contemporary Books and Compton's Multimedia, acquired in July and September, respectively.
 Newspaper advertising revenues were up 6.6 percent in the period, up 4.5 percent for the year to date. Of the three newspaper advertising revenue categories, classified was up 11.7 percent for the period, up 10.5 percent year to date; retail was up 3.5 percent in the period, up 3.4 percent for the year to date; and general was up 5.8 percent in the period, verses a negative 6.6 percent for the year to date. Full run lineage was up 4.3 percent in the period, compared with a 2.4 percent increase for the year to date.
 Newspaper circulation revenues were up 2.2 percent in the period, up 4.2 percent for the 11 periods. "Other" revenues were up 88.7 percent in the period, including results from Contemporary Books and Compton's, and up 26.6 percent for the year to date. Excluding these two acquisitions, "other" revenues decreased 2.1 percent for the period and decreased 1.0 percent for the year to date.
 Combined broadcasting and entertainment revenues were up 8.7 percent for the period, and up 8.3 percent for the year to date. Television revenues were up 13.2 percent for the period, up 12.7 percent for the year to date. TV revenues include those from WPHL-TV in Philadelphia since its acquisition in June 1992. Excluding WPHL, TV revenues increased 8.5 percent for the year to date.
 Radio revenues were up 30.2 percent for the period, up 17.6 percent for the year to date. Radio revenues include those of two Denver stations acquired in January 1993. Excluding the two stations, radio revenues increased 14 percent for the period and increased 4.0 percent for the year to date.
 Entertainment revenues were down 28.7 percent for the period, primarily due to the timing of cable royalties, and were down 8.6 percent for the year to date. Entertainment revenues from 1992 include two TV programs that ran from January to August and were then cancelled.
 Tribune is a leading information and entertainment company. Tribune publishes six daily newspapers, operates seven television and six radio stations, produces and syndicates information and programming, publishes books and information in print and digital formats, and has an ownership interest in one of Canada's largest newsprint manufacturers. In November, Tribune announced its intention to acquire an eighth television station, WLVI (Ch. 56) in Boston.
