TRIANGLE EAST BANK BEGINS OPERATION AS MERGER IS COMPLETED

RALEIGH, N.C., Dec. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- New signs appeared in the Triangle and in eastern North Carolina today as Triangle East Bank opened its doors. Triangle East Bank was formed by the merger of Triangle Bank and the New East Banks and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Triangle Bancorp, Inc. Triangle East Bank serves these North Carolina communities: Raleigh, Sanford, Cary, Fayetteville, Wilmington, Greenville, Goldsboro, Elizabeth City, Fuquay-Varina, Garner and New Bern.
Michael S. Patterson, president and CEO of Triangle Bancorp and Triangle East Bank, stated: "This is an exciting day for our bank. However, even though we now have assets of approximately $296 million making us the 17th largest bank in North Carolina, our commitment to community banking will not change. Our customers can look forward to an expanded menu of financial services, while still enjoying a relationship with a community bank."
