TRIAD EXPANDS AUTOMOTIVE OPERATIONS INTO PUERTO RICO
LIVERMORE, Calif., Feb. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuing to expand its automotive aftermarket presence, Triad Systems Corp. (NASDAQ: TRSC) has begun marketing its business and information management products and services in Puerto Rico.
Puerto Rico has a population of 3.2 million and 1.5 million registered automobiles. Of its estimated 1,200 automotive jobbers, about 400 large operations are in metropolitan areas.
"The larger jobber outlets are very similar to those on the mainland," said Shane Gorman, vice president and general manager of Triad's Automotive Division. "Our research indicates a large percentage of them recognize the benefits of automation, and these are our first marketing priorities."
Gorman added that expanding into high-potential areas, such as Puerto Rico, provides Triad with new opportunities to market its automated management systems and develop additional outlets for its growing line of database products.
The service dealer segment of the Puerto Rican aftermarket includes about 3,000 independent repair shops and service stations. Gorman said that Triad will market its new ServiceCat workstation to these outlets, providing them with monthly updated data pertaining to automotive parts and prices and associated labor costs.
He noted that there are also several major retail chain outlets in Puerto Rico, adding that Triad already has more than 20 of its LaserCat electronic catalog workstations in use at one 11-store chain.
Winner of the 1991 Total Quality Award from the Information Technology Association of America, Triad is a leading provider of business and information management solutions for the automotive aftermarket and retail hardgoods outlets. Utilizing Triad's unique databases, the Information Services organization is the company's fastest growing unit. Triad's turnkey computer systems are supported by a nationwide customer services operation and lease financing.
