TRIAD ACQUIRES ASSETS OF ULTIMATE INVENTORY SOLUTIONS
LIVERMORE, Calif., Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Triad Systems Corp. (NASDAQ: TRSC) today announced the acquisition of certain assets of Ultimate Inventory Solution Solutions (UIS) from the Ultimate Corporation for an undisclosed amount. Headquartered in East Hanover, N.J., UIS has been a supplier of computers and software solutions to the automotive aftermarket specializing in high volume, multi-location businesses since 1985.
Included in the purchase are the applications software and the necessary equipment and manuals to support existing UIS customers.
The acquisition is Triad's second in approximately one month. On Dec. 9, Triad expanded its automotive customer base to over 7,000 customers with the acquisition of loadSTAR Systems, which serves about 1,000 customers.
"UIS has 55 systems in operation, serving 85 warehouse distributors and 380 jobber locations," said Triad Automotive Division vice president and general manager Shane Gorman. "This transaction creates another opportunity to introduce our Telepricing and Electronic Catalog database products to a greater number of automotive jobbers."
Triad's Electronic Catalog and its derivative products were in use at nearly 20,000 automotive counter positions prior to the loadSTAR and UIS transactions. Gorman said the combined transactions provide Triad with the opportunity to expand that presence by approximately two to three thousand counter positions.
Gary Vandervoort, one of the creators of the product who joined Triad at the time of the transaction, added: "Merging the system's flexibility with Triad's information services is an ideal fit for the existing customers.
"We already have a strong presence in the warehouse distributor and jobber segments," Gorman noted, "and are expanding into the service dealer, or repair, segment with recently introduced products, including our ServiceCat workstation that includes the Electronic Catalog and an automated labor guide."
Winner of the 1991 Total Quality Award from the Information Technology Association of America, Triad is a leading provider of business and information management solutions for the automotive parts aftermarket and retail hardgoods outlets. Utilizing Triad's unique databases, the Information Services organization is the company's fastest growing unit. Triad's turnkey computer systems are supported by a nationwide customer services operation and lease financing.
