TREWS COMPANY.

A turn-up as Monty eyes Daly's trousers JOHN DALY reckons a pair of strident strides would help Colin Montgomerie beat the pants off golf's young guns.

The American is threatening to kit Monty out in his trademark Loudmouth trousers as they pair up today in the Castellon Masters in Spain.

And the Scot says he's game for a fashion show - but only if he's cut loose in tartan trews.

The field includes 18-year-old defending champion Matteo Manassero and 20-year-old Tom Lewis, last week's Portugal Masters winner, making Daly, 45, and Monty, 48, two of the oldest swingers in town.

Last night Daly said: "I'd love to send Monty Loudmouths but I don't know if he'd warm to the idea of being seen in my pants. I haven't partnered him for a long time so I'm looking forward to it as we get along great."

Montgomerie laughed and said: "I could be tempted if John sends round a nice pair of Loudmouth tartan trousers for me to wear. I will certainly keep an eye out for packages."

Nine Scots are chasing the pounds 290,000 first prize, including Monty and Richie Ramsay.
