TRENDnet(R) Expands Family of Gigabit Web-Smart Switches for Small Businesses; The New Family Delivers Enterprise-Class Features Such as Power over Ethernet (PoE), Web-Based Management and Gigabit Speeds to Budget-Conscious Small Businesses.

TORRANCE, Calif. -- TRENDnet, a best-in-class manufacturer of wired and wireless networking solutions, today announced it has begun shipping the latest product in the company's complete line of Web-Smart Switching solutions intended to deliver enterprise-class management and flexibility to small businesses. The TEG-224WS+ combines 24 10/100 ports with 2 pairs of fixed copper gigabit ports and mini-GBIC slots to eliminate bottlenecks back to the server and add fiber connectivity.

The new line of TRENDnet Web-Smart Switches provide growing businesses simple and easy management of their network using an intuitive web browser interface that allows administrators to remotely control their network down to the port level. Once the windows-based utility is installed, users can optimize the network's overall performance with QoS traffic prioritization, add security between departments by adding VLAN's, trunk multiple ports for increased speed back to the server, and monitor the health of the network using port mirroring.

"The Web-Smart family not only includes the right mix of management features to immediately improve the performance of small business networks, the switches also provide a flexible platform to build upon," stated Heath Gregory, Marketing Director for TRENDnet. "Specifically, SMB customers are looking to save money, add mobility and improve security by adding VoIP, Wireless LAN and IP surveillance to their data networks. The Web-Smart family provides the performance and flexibility to manage this evolving convergence."

As gigabit technology has become more affordable, small businesses now have the ability of upgrading the performance of their networks and extending gigabit to the desktop. In response to this growing demand, TRENDnet has recently launched several high-port count switches with up to 52 10/100/1000Mbps ports and support for Power over Ethernet. The new switches effectively and affordably extend Gigabit speeds to the edge of the network.

With rich multimedia putting demands across the network, the recently launched TEG-2248WS and TEG-448WS provide up to 48 fixed 10/100/1000Mbps ports and up to 4 Modular GBIC slots help eliminate bottlenecks from the desktop to the server. Also, with the GBIC modules, fiber connections can be made to bridge long connections to servers or between networks.

The new TPE-224WS 26-port Smart Switch integrates Power over Ethernet (PoE) and web-smart management features into a cost-effective and scalable solution. The unit reduces equipment costs and adds flexibility to the design of small business networks by delivering both data and power over existing network cabling across any of the 24 10/100 Auto-MDIX ports, allowing Wireless Access Points, VoIP Phones or IP Cameras to be easily added to the data network.

The complete rack-mountable Web-Smart product family includes:
