TREDEGAR MOLDED PRODUCTS ACQUIRES CUSTOM INJECTION MOLDING BUSINESS

 RICHMOND, Va., Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Tredegar Molded Products, a subsidiary of Tredegar Industries Inc. (NYSE: TG), has acquired the assets of Polestar Plastics Inc., a privately owned plastic injection molder in State College, Pa.
 Polestar's 1992 sales were approximately $8.8 million. The business includes two manufacturing locations in Pennsylvania. Details of the agreement were not disclosed.
 Tredegar Molded Products is a full-service manufacturer of injection-molded plastic components for packaging and industrial markets. Its tooling group produces injection molds for internal use and for sale to other custom molders.
 Polestar manufactures custom injection-molded products for the medical and electronics markets. Customers include Johnson & Johnson's Ethicon Endo-Surgery division, Becton-Dickinson, Survival Technologies, AMP, 3-M and Lexmark.
 The newly acquired business will operate as Polestar Plastics Manufacturing Company. James W. Powers Sr. and Howard L. Jeffries, Polestar's founders, will remain as president and vice president, respectively.
 William L. Driggers, president of Tredegar Molded Products, said, "The acquisition of Polestar enables Tredegar Molded Products to expand its full-service strategy into the growing medical and electronics markets."
 Powers, president of Polestar, said, "As part of Tredegar Molded Products, Polestar can now offer a wider range of injection molding services that are critical to meet the growing needs of our customers."
 Tredegar Molded Products now operates six molding plants, a tooling facility and a technical center.
 Tredegar Industries, headquartered in Richmond, is a diversified manufacturer of plastics and metal products and has interests in energy and computer software.
