TREASURE ISLAND TO BUILD 93-ROOM HOTEL ADJACENT TO CASINO

TREASURE ISLAND, Minn., Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Treasure Island Casino has announced it will build and operate a 93-room hotel adjacent to its 153,000 square foot casino. The three story hotel will also include a bar and lounge with seating for up to 250 people. It will also contain an arcade with a snack bar as well as administrative offices. The hotel will be 76,200 square feet in size and will include three suites as well as 90 single and double rooms.
"The hotel will further the kind of services and amenities we offer to our casino guests," said Treasure Island's interim general manager Curt Campbell. "It demonstrates the ongoing growth of our business over the past year and the fact we need to continually expand and provide the kind of amenities which makes the casino visit as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. This is the first phase of a potentially larger hotel in the future."
In 1993, Treasure Island added a 78,000 square foot addition featuring new restaurants, entertainment and banquet facilities and a bar/lounge as well as approximately 200 additional slot machines. The building will feature a three story atrium and be designed and built in the style of the existing casino.
The hotel is being designed by Kane and Johnson Architects of Rochester, Minn. The general contractor is Kraus-Anderson of Minneapolis.
Construction is scheduled to begin immediately, with an anticipated completion and opening date of May, 1994.
