TRAVELLERS ON WIRRAL WATERS SITE.

WIRRAL council has offered to help after travellers appeared to have moved on to a site near the proposed PS4.5bn Wirral Waters scheme.

Around a dozen caravans plus cars are on the South Bidston site, next to the Bidston Moss recycling centre.

A council spokesman said they were aware a number of caravans were on the land, just off Wallasey Bridge Road.

He said the council was "ready to help and work alongside the landowner if needed".

It is believed the site is owned by Peel Holdings, the company which is seeking to redevelop the Birkenhead and Wallasey dockland area with ambitious plans for major redevelopment there.

The company is also preparing to move ahead with its International Trade Centre on land just off Beaufort Road, nearby. Peel were unable to comment.
