TRAVEL ON MAJOR HIGHWAYS TO BE SLOWED BY MAINTENANCE WORK NEXT WEEK
ST. DAVIDS, Pa., Oct. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Traffic backups are expected to occur on Interstate 76 and State Route 309 in Montgomery County and Interstate 95 in Philadelphia next week, Oct. 26-30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. because of routine maintenance work, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said today.
I-76 in Upper Merion and Lower Merion townships will be restricted to one lane between the U.S. Route 202 and U.S. Route 1 (City Avenue) interchanges Monday through Thursday, Oct. 26-29, for sweeping and debris pick-up alongside the concrete median. The crews will start at Route 202 and work in the eastbound lanes on Monday and Tuesday. The operation will close the westbound left lane on Wednesday and Thursday, starting at City Avenue.
In Philadelphia, the southbound left lane on I-95 will be closed between Front Street and the Girard Point Bridge Monday through Thursday, Oct. 26-29, for the cleaning of drainage inlets.
On State Route 309, a patching operation will restrict northbound travel between Church Road and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange in Upper Dublin Township on Monday, Oct. 26.
From Tuesday through Thursday, Oct. 27-29, northbound Route 309 will be reduced to one lane while crews clean drainage inlets between Easton Road and State Route 63 in Cheltenham, Springfield, Whitemarsh, Upper Dublin and Lower Gwynedd townships.
The schedules are contingent on weather conditions and motorists are advised to slow down and drive with extra care when traveling through the work areas.
