 TRANZONIC ACQUIRES MAXITHINS PAD BUSINESS
 CLEVELAND, June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The Tranzonic Companies


(AMEX: TNZA/TNZB), Cleveland-based manufacturer/distributor of paper, cloth and vinyl products, today announced the expansion of its personal care product lines with the purchase of Maxithins sanitary pad business from Tambrands Inc., White Plains, N.Y., (NYSE: TMB). Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
 Robert S. Reitman, Tranzonic chairman and chief executive officer, said that the acquisition by Hospital Specialty Company of the Maxithins line adds a well-known, branded product to the company's existing group of feminine hygiene products. He said the company will continue marketing Maxithins nationally and in Canada.
 Reitman said that in addition to acquiring the product line, Tranzonic also purchased related production equipment which will increase the capacity of several of its plants.
 Tranzonic, through Hospital Specialty and its Personal Care Division, manufactures and distributes nationally, a full line of control label and private label feminine hygiene products, children's disposable diapers, adult incontinent briefs, obstetrical pads, toilet seat covers and related products for the institutional, retail and medical markets. The division recently announced two new product lines, a feminine douche and an enema product.
 In addition to the Personal Care Division, Tranzonic operating units include the Industrial Textiles Division which supplies industrial wiping products, the Housewares Division which produces and markets laundry accessories, closet organization products, personal travel organizers and cedar storage units and the Industrial Packaging Division which manufactures spiral-wound paper tubes and cores for industry.
