 TRANSTECHNOLOGY CORP. ANNOUNCES RESIGNATION
 OF RALPH E. HUTCHINS
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- TransTechnology Corp. (NYSE: TT) announced today that Ralph E. Hutchins resigned his position as chief executive officer and president effective Jan. 1, 1992, citing personal reasons. Hutchins, chief executive officer since Jan. 1, 1990, will remain as a consultant to the company.
The board appointed Michael J. Berthelot, the vice chairman of the board and a member of the three-person executive committee, as acting chief executive officer and president, pending the completion of a search for a permanent chief executive officer. Berthelot, a certified public accountant and holder of 5.7 percent of TransTechnology's stock, was named to the board in January 1991, elected vice chairman and a member of the executive committee in September, and has been actively involved in the company's recent moves to refocus and reposition itself.
As previously announced, the company is relocating its headquarters from Los Angeles to New Jersey, negotiating the sale of several of its business units, and has taken steps to significantly reduce its corporate overhead. "We are well along in our process of rationalization and focusing our efforts on our core businesses," said Berthelot, "and we expect to report results in the near future."
TransTechnology Corp. is a diversified manufacturer of a wide range of aerospace, advanced technology, and industrial products.
