TRANSCANADA PIPELINES LTD. SADDENED BY DEATH OF FRANK A. SCHULTZ

 CALGARY, Alberta, Aug. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The directors, executives and employees of TransCanada PipeLines Ltd. are saddened by the death of Frank A. Schultz, a member of the first board of directors of the company. Mr. Schultz died in Dallas on Saturday, Aug. 7. He was 77.
 "Frank Schultz served on our board for 36 years, until he retired in 1987," said Gerry Maier, TCPL chairman and chief executive officer. "He was a fine gentleman who contributed immensely to the current success the company is enjoying. Without his great pioneering spirit, the TransCanada PipeLines of today would be far different. He will be missed."
 A graduate of the University of Oklahoma in 1940, Mr. Schultz enjoyed a long career as an independent oil producer in Texas. In addition to TransCanada, his directorships included Sabine Corp. and Royal Gorge Co.
 Mr. Schultz's funeral will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 11, at the Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park in Dallas.
