TRANSAMERICAN WASTE HAS BEEN NAMED TO MANAGE LANDFILL

 HOUSTON, Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- TransAmerican Waste Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: WSTE) announced today that the Solid Waste Authority of the City of Mobile voted to award a contract for the company to operate the city's landfill. The contract is scheduled to be signed immediately and is expected that the term will be for the greater of 20 years or until the landfill reaches capacity.
 The landfill, located 28 miles north of Mobile on State Highway 43 in the community of Chastang, is the only municipal solid waste landfill in Mobile County which has population of 450,000. Currently there are approximately 79 permitted acres with a possible expansion of over 300 acres. Although there is no daily tonnage limitation, the landfill is averaging 750 tons per day.
 TransAmerican Waste Industries, Inc. is an environmental solutions company involved in the transportation, processing and disposal of non-hazardous solid and industrial waste. Operations also include environmental consulting and engineering and remediation contracting services. The company's common stock is traded on the National Market System under the NASDAQ symbol WSTE.
