TRANSACT IS AWARDED A $4.5 MILLION CONTRACT FROM THE U.S. AIR FORCE
AND COMPLETES THE SALE OF ITS MEMPHIS FACILITY
DARIEN, Conn., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Transact International Inc, today announced it has been awarded a $4.5 million contract for a new air cargo handling facility at the Norfolk Naval Air Station in Virginia, with options for an additional $1.1 million which may be exercised by the AIr Force in the next year. In addition, Transact has completed the sale of its Memphis, Tenn. manufacturing facility.
The Norfolk contract covers the design, fabrication and installation of an air cargo pallet handling system -- including pallet lifts, elevating transfer vehicles, conveyors and staging docks -- plus the construction of the foundation and building to house the system and provide secure storage for palletized cargo.
The sale of the Memphis facility will result in a gain of approximately $300,000 in the second quarter of fiscal 1993. This gain will offset operating losses expected in the second quarter. The company is now leasing a smaller facility in Memphis. Transact expects to subcontract a significant portion of the fabrication for the Norfolk contract.
Transact International Inc. designs, engineers, installs and services products and systems for handling air cargo. Headquartered in Darien, Conn., the company has an additional facility in Memphis.
