 TRAK AUTO ISSUES STATEMENT ON DAMAGE TO L.A. STORES

Trak Auto Corporation (NASDAQ: TRKA) has stated Trak Auto's commitment to the Los Angeles community through the operation of more than 100 stores in the area. Trak believes in the vitality and importance of the Los Angeles market, and supports the efforts of those charged with creating an improved environment. Trak, a leading retailer of brand name auto parts and supplies at discount prices, had fifteen stores substantially damaged or completely destroyed. In addition to the stores damaged or destroyed, other stores suffered losses from early closings or curfews. The company had 121 stores in the Los Angeles area prior to last week's events. We cannot at this time determine the impact.
 Trak recently reported sales of $319,635,000 and earnings of $2,084,000 for the fiscal year ended Feb. 1, 1992. The company operates approximately 330 stores in the Washington, Baltimore, Richmond, Virginia, Chicago and San Diego area in addition to Los Angeles.
